Her life

The loud, buzzing sound of his alarm clock ripped through the quiet room. Soobin reached out a hand and slapped it until it was silent. He kept his eyes closed, taking three deep breaths, not quite ready to face the day.

When he finally opened them, the first thing he saw was his open closet across the room. It was a mess of bright, clashing colors. A neon pink shirt was tangled with an electric blue one. A silver, sparkly top hung right next to one with a wild leopard pattern.

Just then, a cheerful voice came from the hallway. "Good morning, Mr. Grumpy."

It was Tae. She was leaning against the doorframe, holding two mugs of hot coffee. She was wearing a short, silky robe the color of red cherries. It was tied loosely, and it didn't cover very much. "I brought you coffee," she said with a smile.

Soobin sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He couldn't help but smile back at her. "You're much better than my real alarm clock," he said.

He took the mug from her, his eyes softly resting on the curve of her hip where the robe had slipped aside. "I have a big, important presentation at work today," he said with a sigh. "I really need to impress these new clients."

Tae sat down lightly on the edge of the bed, the short robe rising a little higher on her thighs. She gently ran her finger around the edge of her own coffee mug. "You're going to be amazing. You always are." Her expression became warm and affectionate. "You work so hard for our future, Bin. It makes me want to..." She didn't finish her sentence, but she glanced down toward his lap under the sheets with a playful look in her eyes.

Soobin almost choked on his coffee, laughing a little. "Easy there," he said. "I have to catch the 7:15 train." But even as he said it, he leaned toward her and gave her a slow, tender kiss. Her lips tasted like strawberries. His hand moved under the thin silk of her robe, resting on the warm skin of her back. She let out a happy sigh and pressed herself closer to him.

A little while later, Soobin was dressed in his sharp, grey office clothes. He was standing by the front door, struggling to get his tie right.

Tae bounced over to him, still barefoot and still in her short red robe. "Let me do it," she said. Her fingers, quick and skilled, fixed the perfect knot for him.

She then smoothed down the collar of his shirt, her hands resting on his shoulders for a moment. "Go out there and impress everyone, handsome," she whispered. She gave him a quick, strong kiss. "How about a special dinner tonight?" she asked, her eyes shining with excitement and the promise of a lovely evening.

"You are too good to me," Soobin said softly, holding her close for one last hug. He breathed in the sweet, fresh smell of her skin. "We can have anything you want, Tae."

He finally glanced at his watch. "Oh no, I really have to run now." He stepped out the door into the light morning rain. As he walked away, the picture of her was stuck in his mind: Tae leaning in the doorway, her red robe barely on, a hint of pink lace underneath. It was a perfect image to carry with him. Suddenly, the boring commute to work didn't seem so long after all.
